Welcome to my website

My name is Leah Shoshanah and I'm a singer, songwriter, guitarist, cantorial soloist and visual artist raised and based in Chicago.

I write original folk music, perform musical programs for retirement homes and libraries, sing and compose Jewish prayer, teach music lessons, and I lead vocal improv & song circles.

Everything I do is rooted in this mission: to bring harmony, beauty and holiness into the world through music and art.

Thank you for visiting my website and taking the time to learn more about me. I look forward to singing together, working together and bringing the world into greater harmony through song!

What people are saying..

  • Leah is a masterful teacher and facilitator. For the Spirit Jam, she brought together a great group of people and guided us through two hours of activity: teachings to focus our breathing and games to encourage us to use our voices in different ways – all in preparation for the spirit jam itself, where we improvised sound and rhythm for an extended time. I loved it.

  • Anyone who is looking for a cantorial soloist should jump at the chance to work with Leah Shoshanah. She strikes this rare mix of knowing the traditional songs and blessings so well, at the same time as bringing her own deep and meaningful originality to bear.

    Maya Schenwar, former client

  • “Throughout my years as a fan, I have witnessed Leah’s music transform the human soul and bring people together in community, where all may be themselves without judgment. Leah’s music deeply encourages transformation through direct action, helping others discover the power that has always been within themselves to bring real, positive change to the human experience.

LATEST MUSICAL RELEASE - Lecha Dodi / Come, My Beloved

Lecha Dodi is a Jewish prayer sung on Friday evenings to welcome Shabbat, a sacred time for connection and rest. Translated as "Come, my beloved, the face of Shabbat is here," the prayer symbolizes the Shekhinah, the divine feminine energy felt through the world. Written during a 2020 retreat, Leah’s reggae-infused version condenses the original Hebrew into three verses, reimagining it as a spiritual practice of mutual liberation and healing. This song invites anyone to create a moment of presence and gratitude, no matter how brief.
